The State Government has announced the contractor to build the new Caloundra

The State Government has announced the contractor to build the new Caloundra South State High School, located on the Sunshine Coast.

Following on from the completion of construction of eight (8) new state schools during 2019, the new school is schedule for construction in 2020, an to open for the 2021 school year.

Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland outlined that this new school will be completed in time for 2021.

"Our track record of delivering new schools on time is apparent for all to see," "Even though last week we opened the most schools on one day in more than 30 years, our record delivery of new school infrastructure is not complete".

"These are some of the fastest growing regions in the state". "That's why we’re deliver the education infrastructure these communities need," the Premier said.

The tender to construct the new school was awarded to FK Gardner and Sons and construction is scheduled to commence in the coming months.

Grace Grace, Minister for Education Minister outlined that the State Government was planning for the future and delivering now to respond to the rapid population growth. Ms Grace said the projects were building on the Queensland Government's record investment in new schools and local jobs.

"The $127.25 million high school will be built in three stages" and "the new high school at Caloundra South would be located near Baringa State School which was opened by the Palaszczuk Government in 2018″.

"The new school is an investment of close to $320 million in education infrastructure, building on the hundreds of millions we invested to open eight new schools in 2020," she said.

Timeframe– School construction to commence in early 2020– Enrolments will open after the principal is appointed in 2020– School to open in January 2021
