The Twittersphere has erupted with what royal fans are claiming is fresh evidence Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to start a family.

The Duke of Sussex seems to be swapping his 'bachelor' car, a 2017 Audi, for a new model and speculation is growing that the 33-year-old could have his eye on a 'family car'.

The car up for sale is the Audi RS6 Avant the Duke of Sussex was seen driving to Pippa Middleton's wedding reception in with Meghan Markle last year.

It has been listed on Auto Trader for £71,900 ($AU127,135) and, according to the BBC, was acquired by British car dealership Overton Prestige.

The internet has gone into a frenzy that Prince Harry is selling his car so the newlyweds can make room for a bigger family car.

Even Auto Trader's editorial director Erin Baker has joined in on the speculation.

"17 reg and low mileage, so it begs the questions: why is the prince selling so soon?... Maybe he's on the market for a bigger family car," she Tweeted.

"In which case we'd recommend a Skoda Superb, which won the best family car in our recent New Car Awards, or maybe he's after an electric car, having driven Meghan away after their wedding in an electric Jag?

"This is a smashing car perfectly suited to any aspiring royal. The Audi RS6 Avant is one of the fastest estate cars on the market doing 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, and it has a roaring exhaust to excite any petrol head."

Since the couple tied the knot in May, the world has been waiting with bated breath for a pregnancy announcement.

In fact, as soon as Prince Harry and Meghan announced their engagement last year, they were asked about their plans to start a family.

"We're [very keen to] start a family in the near future," he told the BBC.
